Review of Death Defying Acts (2007) by Anders B — 15 Feb 2009
I guess this film had a direct-to-DVD release back in N. America or something, but when I saw on our cable movie channel that there was a movie with Guy Pearce as Harry Houdini and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Saoirse Ronan as a mother-daughter con-artist team, I couldn't resist.
Unfortunately, it's a slight piece of historical-romantic fiction, and the weight of the metaphors doesn't hold in the end. Ronan shows that she's the real deal, but overall it's underwhelming considering the subject matter.
