The special effects are fantastic for their time and there is some good comic timing from Streep and Hawn...which would have been funnier if their characters had some redeemable qualities. I understand that this is about the consequences of vanity and obsession and I'm totally behind that.
But if you're going to do a story with that message, have it go somewhere.
