Review of Death at a Funeral (2007) by Sarah M — 02 Jul 2010
If you are open to some twisted humor, Death at a Funeral may provide more laugh-out loud moments than any movie in years. The funny is delivered with a relentless pace that leaves just enough room for you to catch your breath in between laughs.
There is not much in the way of character exploration or even a coherent, plausible narrative, but these are sacrifices at the altar of dark humor in this film. While most of the comedic devices admittedly seemed to be derivative and at times quite antiquated, the ludicrously novel situation in which they were utilized made them feel surprisingly fresh.
