Review of Death at a Funeral (2007) by Laurel N — 04 Sep 2010
I first fell upon the newest rendition of this movie with Chris Rock amongst others trying to recapture the original British version.
After reading the ill-gotten reviews I decided to leave the, all too familiar up-in-you-face slapstick American humor, and went along with the original British version.
I absolutely, hands down, loved this movie. It was hilarious! The British are, in my eyes, famed for creating movies with a subtle ironic humor that just leaves you with a wide grin on your face.
The 90 minutes the movie lasted flew by, as I just sat back and was carried through and entertained by all the horrible yet hilarious things that went wrong at the funeral.
The movie doesn't expect a whole lot from it's cast and it's not supposed to. The story and script carry the movie, and the cast do what is intended from them. Nothing more, nothing less.
I can honestly say that is is British Humor at it's best and I had a truly enjoyable time.
I definitely recommend it for watching.
