Review of Death at a Funeral (2007) by Ovi G — 28 Sep 2011
What an absolutely brilliantly clever comedy this is. I don't remember laughing like this in quite a while, I can admit at some parts also tears of laughter, that's how crazy and awesome this film is. There are only SO many thing that can go wrong at an ordinary day to day average funeral, and to think all of this mayhem, chaos and well...death, started from a simple honest mistake mixed with a lot of confusion and lies after lies above lies on top of...more lies.
From minute one we hear the brilliant accent of the pure british english, on every one of the given cast. They're all (well, most of them anyway), very talented british actors all added into this immense ball of talent, tears and laughter. Mostly character driven, we learn bit by bit what makes them tick, who they love/hate and most importantly the why's, what's where's and how's by the end of the film. Could've even had a chance to be suspenseful but the incredible, magnificent hilarious scenes performed by the one and only Alan Tudyk are too fun, waaay too fun to keep track of anything else, yet (and this is also a thing I liked), all the characters are strong and in the spotlight, thus making it possible for us to laugh at each and every one of them. One of a kind gloomy, parody'ish even, comedy that's impossible not to squeeze even an average laughter out of your belly's depths. Enjoy!
Highly Recommend it (and PLEASE forget the 2010 Death at a Funeral version, the "black" version, it's piss).
Peace!
