Review of Death at a Funeral (2007) by Colin A — 07 Apr 2010
Hilarious. It combines acting with really funny situations as a family tries to get its act together for what is supposed to be a time of morning. Instead, they reveal how even in the saddest of times that people cannot remove themselves from their personal problems. You can identify with the characters, no matter how outrageous they are, and that is how this comedy is able to be a great movie as opposed to just being a good movie. I definitely recommend it.
P.S. As of this writing, the American remake with Chris Rock & co. is set to premiere on April 16th. Why they decided to remake this film? I do not know. Why they are doing it with a mostly black cast? I do not know. What kind of movie do I think it will be? Well, given the original source material it may not be too bad, but I doubt I am going to see it, and if I do, my expectations are going to be low. Personally, I think they should have just left it alone.
