My only explanation for people not liking this is that they're too used to American humor. Genuine comedy has been diluted over the years thanks to shows like Friends. If you enjoy simple comedies like Frasier, then you'll certainly love this gem of a comedy.
It takes its time, but eventually it'll leave your jaw aching with laughter.
