Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Jonathan H — 23 Feb 2009
5 stars, it won't save my rating for some reason. I tried writing a long list of reasons why I'm giving this 5 stars, but its hopeless. Aside from complimenting the excellent editing job I can't remain objective.
The emotional impact is just too overwhelming. The fact is everyone should see this movie. It shows unspeakable human ugliness but also inspires and fills you with a lasting warmth. It has an important message, and the director invites you into the life of a man, and his wonderful parents, who have enriched the lives of many people.
You'll be one of them after you've seen it. I'll leave it at that. What the movie contains and the events that unfold are better told by an admirable and skillful director.
