Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Toby M — 04 Apr 2009
Brilliant film. The director lets his emotions bleed through the documentary, at times crying as he narrates the details of his friend's death. The twists and turns of the plot are devastating, leaving the viewer enraged at the indifference of the authorities.
You end the film wondering how much grief can one couple, Andrew's parents, stand. Yet, they persevere on, trying to change the law so others might not suffer the way they did.
