Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Linus L — 09 Jun 2009
It's explicit but avoids exploitation. It's tender but gruesome. Hate is justified and unjustified.
Saying "Dear Zachary" is a picture that moves us would be a false assumption. The picture simply quiets us. The picture makes us hear and truly listen. We understand there is hate. Clearly, there is an understanding that evil is around us all the time. What's really shown and truly important though, is how we comprehend, cope, and deal with the situations on our hands. A showing of some truly horrible people and most importantly, some absolutely amazing people. Not a moment wasted here.
