Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Andy W — 19 Feb 2010
One of the main reasons that I am not a huge fan of documentary films is that often they try too hard to push a political message or particular standpoint rather than being objective or sharing stories of people.
However, this documentary can't not be political due to the subject matter and injustice that occurred to the Bagby family. What separates this documentary from the myriad of others I have no interest in seeing is that at the center of this film is a story about people.
Hence why I can say this is probably the most powerful and well-directed documentary I've ever seen. If you have a chance to see it, rent it or buy it.
