Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Caribe F — 14 Jul 2010
I'm not really sure how to describe this film. It forces the viewer to feel a variety of emotions. At some moments you feel uncontrollable grief for what is happening (and what isn't happening), and yet at the same time a sudden outburst of anger can occur. Sure the documentary is one-sided, but you wouldn't expect anything else, and you'd be outraged if the other side was even slightly defended. What was originally intended to be a film for the son of a deceased father, sadly must turn to other viewers.
With the exception of one other film, I'm proud to admit that I do not cry during movies. I'm also proud to admit that this film changed that fact.
