Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Wesley R — 08 Dec 2010
Think of the worst thing that could possible happen to you. Now...ask yourself if you have the willpower to work through your grief to overcome it. Do you? This documentary examines how far love will drive a family to overcome the untimely loss of their son and the potential loss of a grandson born to the person responsible for taking their child.
What starts off as a project of the filmmaker to come to grips with his friend's murder soon turns into something more than he could have imagined. You'll be heartbroken and enraged at the injustice the family of Andrew Bagby faces, yet you'll also be uplifted by the unending determination his parents have to make things right in their seemingly hopeless world.
David and Kathleen Bagby are two examples of humanity at its finest.
