Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Don O — 23 Oct 2012
This film hit me so hard that I just signed up for a RT account specifically to say a few words about it. Yes, it's sentimental, yes, it has technical limitations. But this story, along with David and Kathleen Bagby, are so raw and human that it will grip you tightly for over an hour, and haunt you for days afterward.
Through the Bagbys, the film transcends the tragic story of their family and becomes an account of how cruel life can be to some people, and how the power of love and community can keep a light shining in the darkest places.
