Review of Dear White People (2014) by F B — 08 Feb 2015
I liked it. Not the funniest thing in the world, but still enjoyable. All the acting was really great. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack.
The social commentary and the satire was different than I expected. It was more balanced and subtle. That made it more tolerable and less obnoxious. I disagreed with a few things, but there were a lot of good points too.
There were a lot of subplots, which got kinda hard to follow at times, but I think it was a nice touch, especially it's in a college setting. It makes the whole campus feel more alive and dynamic. Some storylines got more love than others, which is to be expected, and I feel like they could have made time to explore these story elements. It's not too long, and the whole thing is more than captivating enough to keep me from getting bored. I really wanted to see more from CoCo's story especially.
