Review of Dear White People (2014) by Michael U — 23 Feb 2015
You know how you were in college when you sat at a bar and talked about all of the social ills and were so hopeful? And then when you got older and you realized you didn't have the answer to everything and got super annoyed with college kids that thought they did? This movie is like sitting next to a table of them after they're drunk and you're just trying to eat in peace.
It's a constant barrage of speech after speech of the black community, white community, how each are perceived by the other and then the irony of dating the other and then blah blah blah blah blah. Nothing that hasn't been said a million times before which leads to the frustration that we really won't get anywhere until everyone just realizes we're all just people. And the vicious cycle of racism (going both ways) won't stop until the racist idiots stop voting in other racist idiots. Does this review make me racist? AUUUUUUUUGH!
