Good concept. Botched execution. Poorly paced and traffics too much in stereotypes; which undermines its message. For all the credibility of the setting, it might as well have been set at Medfield or Faber Colleges.

There are moments where the overriding self-consciousness falls away, some good points come through, and some believable interactions take place, but that doesn't happen nearly often enough.

When a group of black students are going to the movies and complaining about how blacks are represented (reminiscent of the intro to P.E.'s 'Burn Hollywood, Burn') they're asked why they go to Tyler Perry movies, then. The answer; options are limited. DEAR WHITE PEOPLE is an OK movie that stands out for the very same reason; options are limited.
