Review of Dear Wendy (2005) by Christyn A — 06 Dec 2007
I agree that it could be very easy to see this film as a one - dimensional story about a crazy kid with a gun. But it's so far from that. It's a beautifully portrayed story of the need to belong and be loved.
In a strange way this film is fantasy and not reality. The music adds so much interest too, I love combining upbeat music to somber, sometimes sad stories. This film did have its offbeat comic moments, which I think are funnier than the slapstick stuff that's usually thrown into movies.
Jamie Bell remains one of my favorites. Allison Pill is such an interesting actor to watch. The end is pretty radical...I loved it.
