Review of Dear John (2010) by Mark C — 20 Dec 2010
If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it: it was actually a good movie. I was shocked. I only rented this for my mother but I watched it and was pleasantly surprised. I guess what I liked most was Channing Tatum as John.
The character was just a good guy and you felt so sympathetic for him and the things he went through. Tatum's not the world's greatest actor to be sure but I think he held his own. I don't know why people keep saying Amanda Seyfriend was "wasted" here or "deserved better" than this movie.
Maybe it's because I still associate her with being the dim-witted Karen on "Mean Girls" but her performance in this movie certainly doesn't warrant people saying she deserves better.
She was okay in here, nothing special or overwhelming. I still have yet to see the acting ability everyone claims she's capable of.
