Review of Dear John (2010) by Zack S — 16 Jul 2011
As much as I hate to admit it, I thought Dear John was a good movie. Why 3 stars? It's great for audiences and those who like a good story. Why not more? I don't care to see it again, but if I did with a future girlfriend/wife who wants to watch it, it wouldn't kill me.
However, that being said, the story is fairly cliched' and could have been better executed which would have made it a great movie. Amanda Seyfried is great here. Although I'm not the biggest fan of Channing Tatum, he's not too bad here either.
There are moments that are cheesy but also some which are pretty touching. Overall, this isn't a great film, but I do think it's worth watching. Especially if you are one who is into these kinds of movies.
