Well it isn't a great film, but at least Channing Tatum is a more believable solider here than he is in G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra.

The charachters aren't unlikeable in this film, but for the most part I never fully cared about them I just watched them. However, just like in How to train your dragon there is a troubled father son relationship between John (Channing Tatum), and his father (played by Richard Jenkins)which is something I tend to react to, especially the almost tear jerker towards the ending. Anyways the basic story is that John is a solider who is a on a two week break. While on this break he meets and falls head over heels in love with Savannah played by Amanda Seyfried, who by the way doesn't give that great of a performance either. Anyways John needs to leave for war, and the longer he's gone the more the problems start to arise.

I didn't hate this movie entirely, but it does suffer from a weak first half, and some poor, poor acting through out. None of the "chemistry" really seems believable, and the pacing seems a bit off as well.

Not much works for this movie, but the second half is definitely an improvement. On top of it's improvement it also gives us a bit of a little twist that also works in this movies favor.

What really suprised me is that at the box office this was the movie that booted Avatar from the top spot, this or Clash of the titans I'm not fully sure either way it's not a terrible rental, but you could do better.
