Review of Dear John (2010) by Adrian B — 22 Oct 2013
This movie makes me want to visit the seaside in South Carolina; the scenery is gorgeous. The love story is sappy sweet, and a little lame. What really shone was the father-son relationship. Richard Jenkins is excellent as the reclusive, likely developmentally disabled, coin-collecting father.
The only moments of true emotion were brought out by him, first with a panic attack in the back of the car, and then in the hospital hallway... where he did nothing but raise his hand.
