Review of Dear John (2010) by Mêlany V — 31 Jan 2012
SPOILER ALERT ON.
The film is beautiful! but I got upset because they cut many important parts of the BOOK!
It's okay not to put all of the conversations that John and Savanah had ( in the book ), but it would be much more exciting if they had been faithful to the scene that John visits his father for the last time in the hospital .... you know? the father said he loved him, and there is not this scene on the movie... this was the part of the book that made me cry (it had never happened to me with a book ...).
Also, they could have detailed the conversation between Tim and John at the hospital.
Well. the film and book are very sad because John is left with no one, without father, without Savanah, and no one else in the world to live together = (I got a broken heart for him. But the ending surprised me, I thought that Tim would die, and John would at least stay with Savanah at the end ... but it didn't happen D '=.
But that's okay, because he did what he thought he had to do ... he loved her, and he wanted to do something to make her happy.
Nicholas Sparks is the type of author that write a beautiful and sad book at the same time ... and I can not decide if I like it or not ... but I still think I prefer a happy ending =).
Anyway ... I recommend the book and movie to everyone. ^ ^.
