Avoid this movie, besides the paper then plot and the annoying sob stories of each character, this movie spares no nipple twisted or ball kicked to jerk a tear out of the audience. For 15-17 total days spent together throughout the entire movie they are alleged soul mates and destined to break each others hearts.

John's tough exterior is obviously broken by Savannah's compassionate love for him, enough for them to establish they are both completely stupid enough to wait for one another when John goes to war.

Oh and did I mention these well written poetic letters? Would you like John to describe to you how he does his laundry? Would you like to break up in letter form? Oh how I feel for you John, after two weeks, six years in between you honestly thought she would wait for you, I am not a cynic, I am just smart enough to know there is so much you can demand of people.

Mr. Sparks I get it, you make her a virgin, write sappy letters, threw in an autistic child and have John shot and his father die, its called life, there is nothing interesting about your movies or your writing.

This movie offended me on how bad it was. Yes there is room for tear jerkers in the movie industry, but not garbage like this, go watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind or 500 days of summer. I hate this movie.
