The tale of a weird guy who tries to trick his wife's ex boyfriend into looking after his son after he dies, despite how weird that is. Or perhaps about a girl who is so desperately nice she marries someone when or even because it turns out that he's dying despite being in a relationship.
Or maybe it's about a guy who repeatedly enters into military service despite the fact that it removes him from seeing the love of his life or his father. Who also dies, by the way. His father dies.
