Review of Dear Frankie (2004) by C J — 10 Nov 2009
A touching, precious film that really tugs at your heartstrings. One of Gerard's not-so-well known films that he really shines in. I loved him in this and Emily Mortimer's character is extremely sweet and likeable as is her son, played by Jack McElhone.
The storyline is great and I felt like it was original in the sense that I'd not really seen it done before. I like that. The days that "Frankie" and his pretend father spend together are heart-warming as can be and the entire film has a great, sweet, innocent vibe to it.
Though the ending leaves you wondering what will happen to Frankie's mother and whether or not she'll ever see Gerard's character again..I'd like to think she will. :).
