Review of Dear Dumb Diary (2013) by Anjelica G — 09 Oct 2013
"Dear Dumb Diary" is an incredibly funny and cute movie. "Dear Dumb Diary" is about Jamie Kelley (Emily Alyn Lind) who to survive middle school years, writes in her diary. She has a big imagination and wants to save her school art program by winning a jump-a-thon. Unfortunately, she has a lot of bumps in the road. She has to deal with the popular girl who everybody loves, her crush who always happens to see her at the wrong times, and her selfish best friend. In the end, Jamie learns the true meaning of life and learns tons of lessons along the way.
What I like about this movie is the message. The message in the movie is even though you might think your life is over because of a traumatic middle school event and you might want to go to a deserted island but DON'T! Even though something bad might've happened, most likely no one will ever remember it in a year or two. What I didn't like in the movie is how the cast was supposed to be middle school but they look a bit young to be middle school students.
All the characters are extremely funny. My favorite character is Isabella (Mary-Charles Jones) because she is a geeky-girl, fashionista, "sass master" all in one. She's extremely funny and always makes me laugh with her big round glasses.
My favorite scene is when Isabella and Jamie go to an old lady's house to collect money for a fundraiser. The old lady is actually hard of hearing and misunderstands what they are asking for and ends up giving the girls a big bag full of her grannie panties. It is so funny because of the expression on the girls' face but they make the best out of the situation and embrace the experience.
I recommend this movie for ages 10-13 because this movie is like a guide of how to survive middle school years. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars because it makes me laugh so much and it is so cute. You can catch this movie on the hallmark channel airing September 6th.
