4 smoking bullets out of 5. Saw Deadpool with 2 of my best friends while at the Transit Drive In, and even with our very different tastes, we all LOVED IT!! The passion Ryan Reynolds has for this character powers thru, and his chemistry with the always magnificent Morena Baccarin is criminally sizzling- what a calendar year!! Thank heavens that Reynolds kept his vision of Deadpool and the R Rating is well earned, and actually fits this character.
Speaking of characters, has Colossus ever looked better onscreen, and those X-Men jokes were spot on! Even when an occasional joke misfires, the film clips along merrily, and you don't dwell on it.
Btw, don't try to tell me you caught all the comic source references, inside jokes, pop culture shouts, and hidden eggs on one viewing- test yourself on all the names on the Deadpool list and their odds, for example! Given a simple plot and familiar villain, the smart writing and movie's creativity make that into a strength, not a weakness.
The films quite pleasantly surprised me, as Deadpool is not one of my favorite comic book characters, but this movie version has killed it!! Already bought the BluRay/DVD combo for our home...But...did he leave the stove on????
