Review of Deadpool (2016) by Shingo M — 04 Feb 2018
The jokes are all irreverent, vulgar, middle-school-type humour taken to the extreme. Some of the action was cool until it was interrupted with classic lines like, "Sh*t. Did I leave the stove on?" So many scenes could have been good and then were undercut by stupid and poorly times jokes that I started waiting for the next stupid joke every time something looked like it was about to be significant.
I could not root for the main character. He was shallow, irreverent, immature, and made comments about masturbation all the time. It was like watching the worst kind of 13 year old in a superhuman body. Deadpool hated Francis for torturing and planning to enslave him, then tortured and murdered a ton of people to find Francis. The movie tried to suggest that Deadpool is actually a good person underneath it all, but I couldn't believe that after seeing how little value he placed on anything Except Vanessa.
The movie had nice production value.
