Review of Deadpool (2016) by Ben T — 11 Aug 2016
"Deadpool" is a fantastic superhero film that happens to be one of the best entries in the genre in a long time. It totally understands who this character is and doesn't shy back from telling his story properly, no matter how crude or violent it has to get.
The r rating works for this film and I'm glad it didn't hold back from the violence, language, and sexual content "Deadpool" is know for. Ryan Reynolds was born to play this role, and he somehow gave the best performance of his career and truly brought life into this character.
The script lets the film have brilliant meta humor and is funny for comic book/film nerds and the general public alike. The direction is surprisingly fantastic, and from a first time director non the less.
He completely knew how to make the action work for this movie, giving it great camera work that was never shaky and a terrific score and soundtrack choice (I'm still humming "Shoop"). The humor was hilarious, truly making this feel like an action/superhero comedy movie.
Even the love story worked, which can make or break some superhero films. There's really not much I can think of that I didn't like about this film. Everything from the cast to the action to the humor to the direction, it really all came together to create the perfect "Deadpool" movie.
It's a must-see if you enjoy superhero films, action films, love stories, comedies, and terrificly fun adventures.
