Review of Deadpool (2016) by Armando P — 27 Dec 2016
Deadpool (2016) C-103m. ? 1/2 D: Tim Miller. Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller. Dreadful comic book film adaptation. Charismatic-less Reynold's plays smartass superhero who kills anyone who gets in his way (and offending everyone he meets) with absolutely no regrets .
. . and we're supposed to root for this guy? As an adaptation, it's neither as audacious, nor even as bloody, as it pretends to be. Empty and repetitive, like the comics that inspired it; profane wisecracks can't take place of wit.
You know there's something off-putting when the hero causes more suffering than the villain! What's more--the settings and soundtrack are incredibly bland. Reynolds and comic book fans everywhere deserve much better.
Here's hoping there's no DEADPOOL V SPIDER-MAN.
