Review of Deadpool 2 (2018) by Otakudbz — 18 May 2018
As expected, Deadpool 2 delivers all of its promises: It's bigger, funnier, more action-packed, emotional, and overall, better than the first movie. Even with a few pacing issues in the half of the movie, it's still just as fresh as the first chapter for the Merc With A Mouth. Once again, the cast has an amazing performance, and the highlights are Ryan Reynolds (again!) and Josh Brolin as the movie's antagonist, the time traveler Cable. These two characters on screen together is simply amazing in terms of action and comedy. Of course, I can't forget about Zazie Beets as Domino, another one of the film's greatest characters and achievements.
The budget is way higher now than before. In that way, it delivers bigger, more tense and exciting action scenes than before. Not only this, but the CGI is better in many scenes, and the soundtrack as a whole is better.
In terms of plot, while Deadpool 2 has an easy and simple story like the first movie, it is more well-written and emotional than before. I have to admit, some parts of the story did make my jaw drop! And, of course, I can't forget about its humor... But what can I say? We're talking about Deadpool. One negative aspect about the movie is that pacing gets a little off at some places, though. And, sometimes, it offers a few scenes that end up being unnecessary to the story as a whole.
So, to say it shortly: Deadpool 2 is another one of FOX's succesful attemps in doing a R-Rated Superhero movie. They've really nailed the formula, and Deadpool 2 is the ultimate proof of it (of course, after Logan). While it does have a few pacing issues in its middle, the second chapter of Wade Wilson's life is still outstanding. 9.0/10.
