If Weird Science and Short Circuit had a brief sexual encounter, the result would be Deadly Friend.
I read that Wes Craven wanted to originally make the movie closer to the novel, a tragic and dark love love story. But the producers wanted to cash in on the Nightmare on Elm Street fandom, and added six gore scenes including the ridiculous and terrible ending.
The result is a weird Frankenstein love story with a lots of crazy and over the top gore. The ending pretty much ruins any chance of being a decent film.
