Review of Deadgirl (2008) by Carl N — 17 Sep 2009
Any film that deals with the dark subject matter of necrophilia is going to be contentious. But I think this gets away with it because of the uniqueness of the story. It would have been so easy for the makers of this film to go down the sick Gratuitous torture-porn route.
The premise of a zombie girl tied to a gurney and used as a sex slave should have been a disgusting and unbearable to watch. But thankfully instead we are treated to a really profound, spine-chilling, suspenseful and provocative insight in to how twisted humans can be.
The whole thing is dripping with social commentary. If you were in that basement where society's laws no longer apply, would you keep your morals?
