Review of Dead Space: Aftermath (2011) by Peter A — 02 Jul 2012
The plot of Dead Space Aftermath takes place after the events of the first Dead Space video game, a marine ship responding to a distress call from the from the USG O'Bannon finds four survivors among the bodies of the crew.
Now the four survivors get interrogated and we get to see exactly what happened aboard the O'Bannon prior to the marines' arrival from their perspectives. Each perspective has a different animation style.
So you're basically getting four shitty movies for the price of one! Well, to start off the animation that isn't part of the flashbacks look like shit, while the idea sounds good on paper it's just poorly executed here.
The characters look like a clay project gone horribly wrong. Speaking of characters, these people are so bland, and have so little f***ing personality and their dialouge makes them all look like assholes so you feel nothing when you see them get torn to pieces in horrible, gruesome ways.
The story has a bajillion plot holes and even manages to contradict the games at certain points, which is unforgivable! To top this crap pile off, not only is it not scary in the slightest bit but you hardly get to see any monsters.
As someone who liked the previous Dead Space animated movie, Dead Space: Downfall, I can safetly say that Dead Space Aftermath is.. well... a steaming pile of CRAP.
