Review of Dead Snow (2009) by Andrew R — 18 Aug 2010
Nazi zombies. Do you need any other reason to see this movie? I thought not. This delightful horror movie is the story of a group of young people, who, like so many other young people in these movies, head out into the woods for fun and adventure.
(Seriously, don't people just go to the local park anymore?) In the snowy, lonely mountains, they spend their time skiing, tubing, throwing snowballs, drinking and occasionally screwing (in the latrine, no less).
As luck would have it, there be zombies in them there hills. That's when the fun really begins. The whole movie feels like a tribute to older Peter Jackson horror movies, but there are some references to other similar movies.
The whole bloody thing is pretty flipping enjoyable. My only complaints are the lack of nudity (we just see a woman in her undies) and the subtitles, which sometimes distract from the action on-screen.
There is a lot to like in this tongue-in-cheek zombie-fest.
