Review of Dead Snow (2009) by Cody M — 14 Aug 2011
Bloody, over-the-top zombie horror comedy in which a group of Norwegian students take up residence in a secluded shack for the Easter holidays. But the shack is also the location of buried Nazi gold, and a battalion of zombie SS soldiers show up to claim it.
The zombie genre may be completely played out, but director Tommy Wirkola still puts together a deliciously gory show that deliberately ramps up the cliches and makes the most of his snowy location and preposterous villains.
The cast is likable enough zombie fodder, and there is enough wit interlaced with the comical violence to keep this a cheerful affair.
