Review of Dead Snow (2009) by Rob C — 14 Nov 2011
When a few friends decide to spend Easter vacation on the slopes of Norway, they come across a legion of the undead like no other; Nazi's. Dead Snow mixes The Evil Dead films with The Leprechaun, the latter making itself known towards the end of the film.
Director Tommy Wirkola blends a witty script with a healthy dose of severed arteries and body parts galore. Both opposing sides get in on the action, exposing their feral temperament with eager applaud.
The beginning of the film starts off like your common teen fair, getting together and having a jovial time unbeknowest to the danger lurking outside. But when one of the friends turns up missing, the slopes of Norway begin to turn a shade of scarlet, showing no forgiveness for the festive season.
This is not an ordinary zombie film, though, these Nazi's have a goal and it's not for the flesh of their victims; I mean it's a bonus. When the ending comes about, you'll soon know what I mean.
And what an ending it is, having a Braveheart type of tone with a chainsaw and a mallet to boot. If you want a little fun in your zombie film, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check out Dead Snow. I mean, come on, who doesn't like a zombie dressed up in Nazi garb.
