Review of Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (2014) by Kevin R — 29 May 2016
It all started off so nice...
One of the men from the first film that was fortunate enough to survive awakes in a hospital having had a strange surgery on his arm in Norway. The surgery leads to zombie strength and powers being passed onto him. He also has visions of the zombies returning. He calls a group of zombie enthusiasts to come to Norway and help him stop the zombie invasion.
"Would you eat my little man-pussy?!?!".
Tommy Wirkola, director of Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Kill Buljo: the Movie, and the upcoming What Happened to Monday, delivers Dead Snow 2. The storyline for this picture is fairly standard for the zombie genre and has some great backdrops and gore sequences. The acting is a bit cliché but appropriate.
"I have chocolate.".
I came across these films on Netflix and decided to give them a chance. They're below average pictures with some great kill scenes and special effects...and blood always splatters better on a white backdrop. Overall, this is a below average addition to the genre that isn't a complete waste of time.
"This is Satan's arm.".
Grade: C-.
