Review of Dead Silence (2007) by Roxsy T — 16 Dec 2009
I loved this movie! I rented it in hopes that it would be a killer doll movie and suspected that if it was a killer doll movie it might be horrible but I was wrong on both counts. This is a creative, creepy, and visualistic ghost story.
The first thing I loved was the look and feel of the film. It's a gothy feel with the colors of the film mostly focusing in blue hues so everything that isn't blue or black appears to stand out.
The story really held my interest and although I might have been able to predict the plots and twists I was way too interested in just watching to see what will happen next and why it's happening.
"Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls." Love it. I think ventriliquest dolls are creepy and this movie is full of them. It's about a small town's ghost story of a woman named Mary Shaw who was a ventriliquest.
She was killed but she wouldn't "stay dead". Existing through her dolls whom she calls her "children" she seeks revenge. The only way to keep your tongue is not to scream. This movie definately exceeded my expectations and I was glad I rented it.
