Review of Dead Silence (2007) by Taylor B — 21 Jul 2012
I thought long and hard about rating this movie -- well not that long really, just a moment or two. But, my inherent fear of puppets and clowns really got the better of me in this creepy tale of an old hag of a puppeteer who is horribly killed by a mob, after she horribly kills a young boy.
Billy and Mary Shaw; would this act not give you the creeps? Hey wait, does he kind of look like ME? Holy Shit Batman! I did not like "Saw" or any sequel of it, however, for me, this movie hit the right buttons to send some genuine chills through me. Hokey, mostly predictable, yet it played out so fast that you did not have much time to say, "hey, wait a minute.".
The graveyard scene re-burying Billy was as good as any old Frankenstein or Dracula movie scene. The ultimate scary puppet -- a freak'n clown puppet! Just remember, don't scream when you see Mary Shaw, or you lose an important part of your anatomy -- and no, I'm not talking about your wang.
UPDATE: Just watched this again last evening and parts of it still gave me chills. God I hate puppets!
