Review of Dead Silence (2007) by Darknessangel F — 13 Jul 2010
It may not be as scary as the commercials made it look or as I wish it could have been, but that doesn't stop this amazing, stylish & uniquely portrayed doll slasher film from being my most personal favorite horror film of all time. Sure there are other scarier horror movies, but none of those come to how well written, & portrayed this movie is. The idea of using dolls is unoriginal yes, but this movie used the dolls in a more original, & uniquely creepy way.
It brings back the classic use of horror styles of dolls, the fear of darkness, even to the silence itself. Almost everyone is afraid of the silence, that's why when most of us come home at night, we rush directly to turn on any light because of how creepy it feels to be in complete silence until the light pushes it away. There was a decent amount of blood & gore used, as for some decent scares.
But the best thing about this movie is the score, & villainess, Mary Shaw, the most original villainess yet.
