Review of Dead Silence (2007) by Fekry Y — 03 Sep 2012
It's a decent supernatural suspense movie but the problem I have with this movie is that the dolls are not the integral part of the story, therefore it's not a horror movie. I feel like this is more a murder mystery and crime than horror- you don't see the dolls do anything scary, their presence and appearance mixed with ominous lighting and creepy music, makes them effectively horrific. The poster is misleading though- if I had known before seeing the movie that the hand we see was the old woman's hand and not the doll's, I'd have known not to expect a slasher movie with a rampaging doll.
The story at hand is about the cop who returns to town to solve the mystery around his wife's death- plus the mystery of the old woman's death and how she is able to haunt with the puppets that reside there.
