Review of Dead Silence (1991) by Ryan J — 18 Apr 2011
Dead Silence is a great horror film from the creators of Saw James Wan and Leigh Whannel. This film had a huge effect on me since I grew up with Goosebumps and was terrified at the Slappy doll as a kid. The main doll Billy does sort of resemble Slappy in a way.
I would say the acting is a little week, but the overall design is great. The sound and music are amazing, another great score by Charlie Clouser, who also composed the music scores for Saw. You can hear a bit of the Saw theme through out it.
The film also had a twist, which I quite frankly didn't see coming. Very effective and ghastly.
Also for Saw fans, when watching this movie be on the look out for Billy the puppet from Saw. He has a great cameo.
