Review of Dead Silence (1991) by Paul J — 28 Oct 2011
We tend to find dolls kinda interesting. Especially, creepy ventriloquist ones like in this movie. However, because of this, horror films over-use them to the point of visual bankruptcy and cliche. Sadly, this movie is one cliche after another.
The script is ridiculously on the nose. The only highlight being the terrific villain. She's freaky and genuinely unpleasant to look at it. They score points for all of her imagery but the rest is a lackluster attempt.
The cop was a pathetic stereotype.
