Review of Dead Silence (1991) by Mark N — 06 Apr 2012
As scary as a photo of a clown face down under a box on another continent from you. Rote slasher elements and off screen kills are utterly boring. The puppet is actually eerie enough but obvious setups kill any suspense and generic horror camera work alerts you to every cliche.
Every actor looks bored and walks through every scene with blank looks of disinterest. Wan is rapidly using up the credit he got for Saw and its proving to be a very thin credit by now.
