Director James Wan's follow-up to Saw, Dead Silence is an evil doll film, but it manages to take the genre in its own direction. Creepy, bloody, and stylish, Wan doesn't quite reach the heights he will with Insidious or The Conjuring, but the seeds of that skill are on display here.
