Review of Dead Ringers (1988) by Stuart M — 26 Mar 2007
Creepy yet restrained film from Cronenberg. I was surprised at how much he reigned himself in for this especially after having only recently watched The Fly...all the same, this is an excellent film that really shows the deconstruction of a personality (or two in this case) really terrifically.
Jeremy Irons dual characters are just unique enough that you can tell the difference (when the film wants you to) while being very similar in other ways. As the film goes on, you'll see the genius in Irons' performance.
Beautifully crafted all around and surprisingly poignant and powerful.
