What makes this film so brilliant, and perhaps this can be said of most Cronenberg movies, is that the material here feels exploratory instead of exploitive. The Mantle twins are not crazy, disturbed or unbelievable.
In fact, they are both entirely love able, just in different ways. Their spiral feels so utterly disturbing because it does not seem so much like fantasy, that this could await anyone...
