Review of Dead Ringers (1988) by Wild Willie N — 25 May 2010
I wonder if DEAD RINGERS could be made in today's shitty movie landscape. I don't think audiences could sit through this type of film nowadays. DEAD RINGERS is SLOW.....but at the same time, I couldn't stop watching the impending trainwreck that is the Mantle brothers - played AWESOMELY by Jeremy Irons.
I think D.R. is for the more mature type of cinema viewer that appreciates film of the past ...... and I feel like a jackass talking about mature because I hardly feel so!! In the end - Dead Ringers is SLOW burning, brooding, a tad fucked.
...and ultimately watchable.
